In 1997, Lake invented the first cycling shoe truly designed for winter, the MXZ300. The unique shape and construction of the boot trap warm air, which is the best insulator for any type of shoe. The design is such that it does not restrict blood flow in the foot, as it is your foot that generates the heat the boot is designed to trap. Keeping this heat trapped as air allows for two things: your foot stays warm and dry.

Because the MXZ305 uses a highly breathable leather upper and a temperature-regulating lining that wicks moisture away, sweat is pulled away from the foot so it doesn't freeze against it, keeping your foot comfortable. The MXZ305 is the fifth generation of this legacy and continues to be the best of the best as the cycling shoe specifically designed for winter.

Extreme Winter

- This latest model features our widest and tallest toe box for ultimate insulation in extreme winter conditions. The Extreme Winter shape allows the foot to maintain proper circulation even when thicker socks are worn. What’s unique about our shape is the cycling-specific design of the heel, the instep, and the arch that still keeps a snug fit to hold your foot in place while riding or walking without the need to tighten too much. Our Extreme Winter shape continues to move towards comfort and warmth for winter cycling shoes.

Outsole
The MXZ305 is built on our Enduro Ultra Bomb-Proof outsole with non-slip cleat inserts. The rubber sole features glass-infused tread inserts, which are vertical micro-glass fibers that stick to virtually any surface. This external tread is built around our fiberglass-injected nylon sole compatible with SPD (MTB cleat). What makes the Lake nylon sole famous worldwide is its comfort and uncompromised performance. No other injected nylon sole offers the same level of stiffness or comfort. This combination gives you a cycling shoe that is suitable for all conditions and stable in any situation.

Lining
The MXZ305 features an American full-grain leather upper that is water-resistant, combined with a Helcor leather toe protector that is abrasion and water-resistant, ensuring durability, comfort, and longevity. The superior properties of leather in cold weather and its natural breathability maintain warmth and dryness. The leather cuff keeps snow and debris out, protecting your feet from the cold. Lined with Outlast temperature-regulating material, it keeps a constant temperature for the foot and wicks moisture away. Additionally, 200 grams of Thinsulate insulation provide a breathable and insulating barrier that keeps your feet dry and warm.

Closure
The Mid Power M4 tongue-mounted closure system with the BOA® Fit System excels in ice, dirt, and other challenging environments and is designed to be easily adjustable with gloves. The medium-capacity dial combines durability and closing strength to withstand intense forces and impacts without sacrificing fit. Water resistance
The uppers are treated with a durable water-resistant coating (DWR) which will wear off over time. We recommend reapplying a DWR spray 1 to 2 times a year for moderate cyclists and every 2-3 wet rides for everyday cyclists.
