"Crest" is the name Stan gave to one of its early rim designs, and today it belongs to one of the most advanced rims around. Made from 6069 alloy and featuring a reinforced spoke bed and weld, the 25 mm wide rim Crest MK4 is designed to handle both the higher pressures of 40 mm gravel tyres, as well as the lower pressures of 2.3-inch MTB tyres. The asymmetric design of the Crest MK4 rim enhances the spoke angle to create a more robust wheel, while offering the easiest and most reliable tubeless system, found only on rims patented by Stan featuring Bead Socket technology. Designed for riders, by riders, the Crest MK4 wheelset relies on the tried-and-true strength of traditional J-bend spokes. As part of Stan's commitment to creating easily repairable wheels that a cyclist can own for many years, all wheels in the MK4 series sharing the same diameter use a single, very common spoke length. Front, rear, and both sides all use one length, making the replacement of damaged spokes as simple as possible. A legendary rim deserves a legendary hub, and the M-pulse hubs on the Crest MK4 deliver. Designed in partnership with Project321 and CNC machined in their Bend, Oregon shop, the M-pulse freehubs use an innovative neodymium magnetic ratchet design that provides an incredibly positive and reliable engagement with virtually no friction. Unlike traditional ratchet and spring designs that create unnecessary friction when not engaged, the magnetic ratchets of the M-pulse hub are strongest when engaged while minimizing friction when disengaged. Multiple teeth on the ratchets distribute the load to further increase strength and durability, while a complete set of Enduro bearings and a 17 mm 7075 alloy axle allow the M-pulse to withstand more than twice the force of previous Stan hub designs. The protected design of the M-pulse hubs also shields the bearings from direct exposure to the elements for even longer bearing life. But the real beauty of the M-pulse hubs is their low rolling resistance and engagement speed. An easy preload adjustment feature for the bearings makes it quick and simple to tweak the M-pulse hubs to reduce friction and resistance. All of this in a hub that engages with just 1.66° of rotation for instant acceleration. Available with a Shimano Micro Spline, HG, or SRAM XDR freehub, and with 6-bolt or Centerlock brake style, with options to fit all popular axle configurations. Tubeless-ready with rim tape installed.
