S6903 LLU MAX - Stainless steel, MAX design, ABEC-3, radial suspension bearing - 17 mm x 30 mm x 7 mm - Enduro Bearings pioneered MAX-type bearings almost 20 years ago for bicycles to tackle the challenges associated with MTB pivots. MAX-type bearings offer an additional 35-40% load capacity compared to standard radial bearings thanks to a special design that allows for maximum ball insertion within the bearing, via a custom-machined slot in the rings. The extra balls, combined with deep grooves in these bearings, provide better lateral support for the twisting and multidirectional forces associated with MTB pivots. This ABEC-3 bearing features deep groove design rings, with precision 10 balls and full contact double lip labyrinth seals (LLU) for maximum protection against the elements while maintaining a 90% fill of extra high-pressure Almagard grease inside. Not all stainless steel is created equal. - Enduro uses only 440C stainless steel balls and rings to ensure long life and superior corrosion resistance in applications and environments that may be less than ideal. 440C has the highest strength, hardness, and wear resistance of all the stainless steel alloys in the 440 series with a high carbon content. As expected, it is also the most expensive of the 440 series alloys and requires multiple thermal and cryogenic treatments to achieve its superior mechanical properties. Although stainless steel has a 20% lower load capacity and is slightly softer than our standard 52100 chrome steel used in most of our bearings, stainless steel is an excellent alternative for use in wet conditions, if you often wash your bike, or where sweat may be an issue.
