Reverse organic brake pads provide optimum braking performance when cold. On the other hand, wear will be greater at higher temperatures and with continuous braking.
Metal pads deliver their full power at medium and high temperatures, making them more durable for long, hard braking. When cold, they are slightly less effective than organic pads. But only during initial braking, to bring the brakes up to the right temperature. However, this doesn't mean that a metal pad brakes badly when cold! There's only a slight perceptible difference.
