The Zipp 303 Series S tubeless disc brake wheelset offers today's cyclists the versatility they demand and the speed they are looking for. True to its heritage of winning great early season classics, the 303 Series retains a rim height of 45mm ideal for all terrains, but gains in internal width to deliver superior performance and ride quality in almost every measurable situation. Road bikes are more versatile than ever, whatever the road surface, but still remain as fast as ever. With a completely redesigned profile and rim design, the 303 S optimizes the rider's performance on this new generation of bikes. These tubeless wheels, designed for disc brake bikes, allow wider tyres to be fitted at lower pressures for road or road racing. The 303 S model is one of our lightest wheel pairs, optimized for top aerodynamic performance with a 28 mm tire but capable of accommodating gravel type tires up to 50 mm wide. The 303 S Series builds on the concepts of the top-of-the-range 303 Firecrest tubeless disc brake wheelset to increase speed with improved performance. To achieve this, we have created a wheel that ensures the reduction of these elements: wind resistance, rolling resistance, rider fatigue and weight. The main innovation lies in the design of the rim of the 303 S series. The rim height of 45 mm is the same as that of the previous version, the 302 for disc brakes. But the rim width has increased by 2mm to 27mm and the width of the tyre housing has been increased by 7mm to 23mm. This rim is designed for speed when fitted with a 28mm tyre. The wider rim optimises the tyre profile, allowing the tyre to be inflated at a lower pressure. This reduces rolling resistance and provides better pedaling flexibility. Compared to a similar top-of-the-range wheel, all this translates into a 10% saving in terms of the energy required to drive at 40 km/h on the flat with a 28mm tyre, according to Zipp's in-house tests.
