• DOT 5.1: Heat is the enemy of any braking system, so advances in heat management mean advances in your ride. We've found that in our systems, DOT 5.1 takes almost three times longer to boil than DOT 4, allowing for seamless performance without degradation in even more extreme conditions. Integrated Reservoir: - Using TaperBore technology, we've integrated the reservoir and master cylinder onto our hydraulic disc brake levers to create a super sleek (and even lighter) lever.
• Power Reserve Geometry: At the end of the day, a brake lever simply multiplies the force your hand generates (just like the nutcracker). Avids Power Reserve geometry represents a way of thinking about the physics of leverage and the comfort of your hands. This philosophy is fundamentally different from others in the braking industry. Because of the positioning of the pivot, physics dictates that with other brake levers, your fingers tend to slip off the ends when you pull. Avid is different. We designed our levers with the pivot closer to the handlebars, in fact, closer than anyone else in the industry. The resulting lever movement has less inward travel, an arc that is closer to the natural movement of your fingers and provides more force to the brake. The best part is that all Avid levers have it.
