Oval chainrings:New trends in smaller chainrings, along with the desire to create a lighter oval chainring for mountain bikes, gave rise to the Q direct-fit chainrings. The simplified one-piece design saves about 40 grams over the standard ring + spider + bolt combination (for example, the weight savings for a 32t ring is 40g). By machining our direct mount chainrings from a single piece of aluminum, in addition to reducing weight, stiffness is improved by orienting the unidirectional fibers of the aluminum to make the most of their properties.
