Description
The SES (Smart ENVE System) 3.4 AR Disc is the result of a cross between a mountain bike rim design and the aerodynamic profile of the SES 3.4. The Smart ENVE System distinguishes itself by its process of designing aerodynamic rims as an integral part of the rider and bike system.
The SES 3.4 has a different front and rear geometry: the front rim is lower and wider to increase crosswind stability, while the rear rim is taller and narrower to further reduce aerodynamic drag and delay airflow separation after flowing across the rider and bike.
The SES 3.4 Disc is a continuous unidirectional carbon fiber rim that is lighter than the conventional SES 3.4 braking version because it is not exposed to the problems of heating and thermal expansion at the braking surface. The SES 3.4 Disc does not have a braking surface and must only be mounted with disc brakes.
The SES 3.4 Disc is therefore able to absorb the additional force of disc brakes. It is also extremely shock resistant as it is designed in the same way as the autres mountain wheels in the range. These qualities make the 3.4 Disc a very good cyclocross and Gravel wheel. Because of its characteristics, it is an excellent choice for road cyclists or enthusiasts of gravel who want to equip their road bike with disc brakes.
