We've scrutinized everything, including the transition between handlebars and hoods, the texture of the grip, the finger wrap, and the separate interfaces with the shifter and brake lever.

Technology:
- DoubleTap:DoubleTap® makes shifting easier and faster, eliminating the cumbersome and awkward engagement associated with two-lever systems.
- DoubleTap handles up and down shifts in one short, sweeping motion with minimal effort and maximum comfort, no matter where you are on the bars.
- DoubleTap® uses two pawls, one to hold the ratchet wheel and the other to carry it up and down through the shift.
The pawls are arranged so that they can jump over each other depending on the distance and pressure you apply to the shift lever.
- The transport pawl (04) moves the ratchet wheel (02) into the gearshift range with short, quick taps.
Downshifting is accomplished by a longer sweep of the lever (in the same inward direction as upshifting, but at an ergonomically maximized 15° angle), with the holding pawl (03) and the transport pawl jumping over each other quickly and smoothly.
- Location, location, location:DoubleTap's one-way, single-motion levers (05) work perfectly, no matter what position you're shifting from.
Its double-jointed design (01), which is completely separate from the brake pivot, is easily engaged from the hoods or drops.
- Unlike all other front controls, DoubleTap® also lets you pull the shifter against the bars so you can shift up while sprinting or attacking without giving up a firm grip.
On DoubleTap® controls, the brake and shift levers are completely independent, each operating with its own pivot points.
This not only allows for multi-position functionality, but also eliminates the risk of inadvertently engaging the brakes or shifters... an unfortunate side effect of other shift/brake lever designs.
