It's a simple, elegant and advanced system that solves problems - without compromising performance, comfort and weight - with a revolutionary shift/brake lever design.
DoubleTap® makes shifting easier and faster, eliminating the cumbersome and awkward engagement associated with two-lever systems.
DoubleTap® allows you to shift in and out of gear with one touch, with minimal effort and maximum comfort, regardless of your position on the handlebars.
How it works: DoubleTap® uses two pawls, one to hold the ratchet wheel and the other to move it up and down when shifting.
The pawls are arranged so that they can move relative to each other depending on the distance and pressure you apply to the shifter.
The transport pawl (04) moves the ratchet wheel (02) up through the gear range with short, quick presses.
Downshifting is accomplished by a longer sweep of the lever (in the same direction as the upshift, but at an ergonomic angle of 15°), with the holding pawl (03) and the transport pawl in quick and smooth succession.
Location, location, location: DoubleTap's single-motion unidirectional levers (05) work perfectly, no matter what position you're shifting in.
Its double-jointed design (01), which is completely separate from the brake pivot, is easily engaged from the hoods or troughs.
Unlike all other front controls, DoubleTap® also lets you pull the shifter against the handlebars, so you can shift up during a sprint or attack without giving up a firm grip.
Divide and conquer: On DoubleTap® controls, the brake and shift levers are completely independent, each operating with its own pivot point.
This not only allows for multi-position functionality, but also eliminates the risk of inadvertently engaging the brakes or gears - an unfortunate side effect of other shifter/brake designs.

EXACT ACTUATION™:When we launched our road technology from scratch, we reapplied our mountain bike-proven SRAM 1:1 actuation ratio (shifter cable travel: derailleur movement) for 10-speed rear shifting.
EA simplifies and stabilizes the difficult balance between rear derailleur hanger design, tight spacing of the sprockets and exact cable tension.
